3 ECO ADVENTURES IN SLOVENIA
Bled, Slovenia
“Over half of me is covered in forest, I have over 40 parks and 20,000 kinds of plants and animals… who am I?
“God…?”
Slovenia is a too-good-to-be-true eco wonderland of soaring alps and subterranean caves. Its lakes are fed by hot springs and its squished between the Alps and the Adriatic.
Here’s how to enjoy one of the most sustainable countries in the world without giving planet earth the finger …

Soča Valley
“Fairytale much?”
Yep, they filmed Narnia here.
Soča Valley is EDEN… without the biblical snakes and nakey couples. This emerald lake was the first place in Slovenia to get the European Destination of Excellence (EDEN) award for sustainable tourism.
Ride around on white horses, feed the goats and look out for the world’s largest trout -it’s leopard-spotted 🐆
The source of River Soča - The Trenta Valley - is the largest protected area of nature in Slovenia. Take one of Positive Sport’s e-bike tours round here.
Api-tourism
You’ll want to lick yourself after this massage…
Yep, in Slovenia you can get rubbed in honey - all in the name of saving the planet 🍯
Go on a beekeeping route with Bee Our Guest. You'll pedal past Apiaries - honey bee houses - and countryside straight outta LOTR. Your final stop is an ancient little restaurant that does honey dessert and shots.
Ready for a sticky rub down 🐝
Thermal Waters
"PINCH ME..."
You could punch yourself in the face, Lake Bled will still be there when you regain consciousness.
This is Slovenia’s big dog attraction. Think teeny island and a craggy castle surrounded by sparkly water.
Take a ride around the lake on an electric boat then choose either a horse-drawn buggy or an electric bike to explore. Bled has a Zero Waste concept, so chuck your rubbish in the bins and use reusables 🗑
The best bit is the naturally heated water that pools into the Grand Hotel Toplice. Starfish in and it’ll cure all your problems.
