Kraków, eh?

“Magiczny Kraków” (Magical Kraków) was the ancient Polish capital until Warsaw came and snatched the title off them. Booo.

Kraków is a pillowy pierogi dumpling of a destination. It’s stuffed full of crumbly medieval walls, underground chapels and gothic architecture, plus leafy bars and hole-in-the-wall pubs.

Have a candlelit beer in a creaky cellar bar after meeting the dragon at Wawel Castle. You’ll probably need a shot from Szlanki bar after that…

Kazi (call it that to impress the locals) is Kraków’s answer to Soho. There’s sobering Nazi history to be found here alongside charming bars like Artefakt Cafe, and leafy, upscale ruin bars like Szlanki.
