3 SCARY ALPINE BRIDGES
The Alps, Switzerland
The Swiss love a suspension bridge.
They’re dotted all over the Swiss Alps.
Partly to connect mountain peaks, partly to make it possible to cross glacial valleys. Mostly to give passers by the chance to feel like Indiana Jones.
Unlike the ones from the Temple of Doom, Lord of the Rings, or any other adventure quest film ever, these ones are all PERFECTLY safe (they’re Swiss.) And they're all a couple of hours train from Zurich.

Trift Bridge
Aaand just as you get to the middle, somebody CUTS THE ROPE!Nah it's not made of ropes though it was inspired by Nepalese rope bridges. They built it in 2009, so that visitors could cross the Trift Glacier and get up to the Swiss Alpine Club house.
You used to be able to walk there across the glacier, but it's melting away fast. Go for stomach churning views of the glacier and valley.
The Titlis Cliff Walk
This is the highest suspension bridge in Europe. 500 metres off the ground and 3,041 metres above sea-level, it’s really REALLY bloody high.So high, it’s always at least a bit covered in snow, and you're looking down at the clouds. The bridge takes you across the cliff of Mt Titlis - on a clear day, you can see the glacier, the Uri Alps and parts of Italy.
Grip the hand rail til your knuckles go white and try not to crap yourself on the way across.
The Aspi-Titter Hängebrück Bridge
As far as Alpine trekking spots go, this UNESCO world heritage site is the icing-sprinkled-to-give-the-effect-of-snow, on the cake. This wobbly beaut connects the Gotthard one on side of the Fischer glacier, and Lake Geneva on the other.
And if you fancy dressing up like a mythical goat lord and jumping out at tourists then that’s apparently fine too.
