It’s actually like kite flying for thrill-seeking yet lazy adults. Basically you get to sit in a three-wheeled buggy and get whipped along the beach by a power kite.

You’ll be hurtling across Camber Sands beach at speeds of up to 50mph. Relax, the soft sand is ideal for breaking your fall… there will be falls. Get lessons and all the gear from The Kitesurf Centre.

Stay here: Whitehouse Rye

In the storybook town of Rye… Rye, as in the bread? You bet your last sourdough loaf it is.

This is a Grade II listed building in the centre of town. But you’ll never need to leave. There’s an on-site restaurant and award-winning bakery. Full of bread and tired from buggying, you’ll be flopping into a warm and cosy room just an 11-min drive from Camber Sands.

Sheer drops and mountaintop scrambles not really your thing? Yeah, you’ll want to skip this one.

A via ferrata is a gnarly climbing route that has a bunch of steel cables, rope ladders, and rungs clinging to rocks. The idea is to clip yourself to these and scurry along the route. Via Ferrata Xtreme is Honister’s version. You need to be fit and healthy because there’s plenty of mountain edge exposure, vertical climbs, and dangly cliff edge ladders.

Stay here: Royal Oak at Keswick

The Royal Oak is a warm, countryside hug of a hotel. Helps that it’s a pub with cask ales and seasonal food too. Make sure you stick around for breakfast - it’s award-winning.

You’ll be smack bang in the middle of market town Keswick and just a half hour drive from Honister.

Bali eat your heart out. Cornwall’s where it’s at.

Sennen Cove is a flat golden flipper of perfect beach, but you’re here for the waves. Surfing put this place on the map. There’s a handful of beach bars and ice cream stalls but the award-winning surf school is the big dog attraction.

Get kitted out then get tossed about by Poseidon. Ideal.

Stay here: Sandpipers Cottage

You can practically taste the sea spray from your room. Salty.

Sandpipers Cottage is perched above Sennen Cove. It's all exposed beams with a charming, beachy vibe and views that’ll make you tingly. Watch the sunset from your private terrace and think about all the waves you crushed, you legend.

Just going to put it out there… packrafting is a cry for help.

People take rucksacks filled with inflatable boats (no, really) into the deepest, darkest remote places. And then try to survive. The idea is it lets you reach all the hidden coves and secret nooks that are normally inaccessible.

Snowdonia Packraft Expedition starts in Snowdonia then descends into the Conwy Valley where you’ll float downriver in a V-formation* like a bunch of graceful geese.

You’ll be starfishing into your double bed inside a glamping tent. Live your best off-grid life and cook dinner over the fire pit. These guys provide a griddle and tripod with cooking pot too.

Get your gorge scramble on in Dartmoor National Park and you’ll meet criss-cross streams and tumbling ravines as you get wet and wild scaling a mountain river course.

You’ll be using dips in caves, mossy footrests, and low hanging branches to Tarzan your way through Devon’s best bits.
