Art Attack: 3 UK Stays

Art Attack: 3 UK Stays

There are paint splodges on the pavements and creativity seeping through the cracks… 🎨

We’re heading to 3 of the UK’s artsy cities for a holiday that’d make Picasso proud.

We’ve paired these cities with swanky Plum Guide and Airbnb stays so after a day of daubing you can easel (NOT SORRY) into a fluffy bed 🙄

Street Art

Bristol, United Kingdom

Brizzle (we’re allowed to call it that, we’re friends) is all about friendly people, amazing architecture, and ART. Dahling.

This is Banksy’s city and the street art scene is one of the best in the world. First stop? It’s got to be the UK’s largest permanent street art project. It’s called See No Evil and you can see it at Nelson Street where the sad grey buildings got a graffiti glow-up.

Next it’s time for the big dog himself. Head to Frogmore Street for one of Banksy’s earliest works - the Well Hung Lover on the side of a sexual health clinic. Need more convincing? The makers of Wallace & Gromit (Aardman) are based in Bristol. Run don’t walk.

Stay here: Central City Pad

A jazzy two-bed flat in the vibey Stokes Croft area. There are a slick kitchen and bathroom with all the mod cons AND free on-street parking for all the drivers.

Culture & Canals

Manchester, United Kingdom

Manchester might’ve been the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution - but don’t be fooled. There are street art murals on former cotton mills, sculpture studios inside red-brick buildings, and creative juices (and craft brews) flowing alongside the canals.

There’s artsy culture round every corner but you’ll want to walk in the footsteps of The Smiths past the legendary Hacienda club and onto the new BBC Studios. After, check out Manchester Art Gallery for heavy-hitters like Leonardo da Vinci or Paradise Works for undiscovered local talent.

Stay here: Bakewell Pudding

You’ll be staying in Bakewell Pudding. Chocolate Fondant was booked. This place is a cosy nook in the Peak District - perfect for daytrippin to Manchester (an hour by car).

There’s a wood-burner in the living room, countryside chic kitchen table, and a sprawling courtyard with BBQ.

Indie Shops & Seaside

Brighton, United Kingdom

London-by-Sea… but maybe (whisper it) better than London?? Yep, blasphemy. But Brighton & Hove has loads going for it. This is where artists, musicians, and designers congregate in friendly coffee shops.

Pick your way along the pebbly beach to West Pier - painters like to huddle here. Other must-do pit stops include The Lanes and North Laine. Dip in and out of indie stores as you watch street performers and local bands doing their thang.

Stay here: The Vines

You are bang smack by North Laine which is the nerve centre for all things artistic. There are quaint curiosity shops rubbing up next to cafes and indie art stores. You’re staying in a roomy city pad. The best bit? the decadent bathroom has beehive bath tiles and a freestanding tub.
