Don't go chasing waterfalls

PLITVICE LAKES

Plitvice, Croatia

“Oh my god...It’s a double rainbow… what does this mean..?”

Plitvice Lakes is like something from Avatar but without any of those strange blue guys.

Walk through the sixteen lakes with Evian-clear waters. Look up, you’ll see misty rainbows hugging waterfalls and forests stretching to the horizon. “It’s so intense…”
Swimming is banned (prudes) but you can walk through the waterfalls on the handy, slightly rickety, wooden path.
Ehh, you’ll be fine.

If you don’t fancy the 3-8 hour walk, there’s also an electric boat that’ll whizz you across the lakes included in the ticket price.
As well as banging waterfalls, the park has deer, bears, boars and wolves. It’s basically Game of Thrones without the people or dragons (sorry).

It’s kinda unlikely you’ll see anything but fish but, hey, you never know.
Plitvice is 2 hours from Zagreb (you can drive or catch a bus).

Entrance fees to the Plitvice National Park change seasonally, check their website to be sure.
