FESTIVALS OF LIGHT

The nights are getting longer and darker than Frankie Boyle's nightmares.

Luckily, these festivals are here to bring a white hot flash of neon to those pitch-black nights.

Here’s 3 of Europe’s best Festivals of Light.

La Nuit Blanche

Paris, France

La Nuit Blanche is a decades old carnival, inspired by St Petersburg all-night ragers when the sun never sets.

The Parisians party like they’re, well... Russian, with art, music and theatre events from 7pm till 7am.
Art takes over the city, to transform classic buildings.

Look out for clouds of paper butterflies settling on baroque columns, and giant tarantula silhouettes creeping along the Seine 😱
La Nuit Blanche takes place for free in Paris on the 7th of October.

Signal Festival

Prague, Czech Republic

For a toddler, Signal Festival's killing it.

It’s only 4 years old, but it brings in some of the best in light sculpture and neon good times to the Czech capital.
There’s light-up landmarks, giant people, interactive weather and a whole lot of neon.
Signal is the 12th-15th October, for free in Prague.

Glow Festival

Eindhoven, Netherlands

Eindhoven is the electric capital of Europe thanks to the Philips factories that have set up shop there.

So it makes sense that every year they light the place up like Nana’s Christmas tree.
40 artists create light installations, sculptures and performances to fit around a walking route through the city.

Wonder if Philips foot the leccy bill...
Glow is on the 11th - 18th of November, in Eindhoven. It’s free.
