Furore Hidden Beach

FURORE HIDDEN BEACH

Sorrento, Italy

Ahh, the Amalfi Coast. Where the coastline plunges into crystal water, the houses are painted pastelly pink and yellow, and literally everyone scoots about on Vespas eating gelato.

It’s so bellissimo that it gets overrun with tourists in the summer. But there’s a secret sunbathing spot for those lucky peeps in the know...
So secret, in fact, that it used to be known as “the village that doesn’t exist” (try putting that into your sat nav).

Furore was completely invisible to outsiders until the local mayor decided to put it on the map by painting all the houses in bright colours - head there in September to see international artists coating the walls with rainbow murals.
To get to the beach (locals call it a fiordo, but it’s actually a mini gorge) you have to hop off the main road to a long set of stairs.

Or make like the locals and just dive off the bridge straight into the sea 😱
There’s a diving competition every summer if your diving's profesh level (watching with a granita counts too, right?).
The beach only catches the sun in the morning, meaning it’s never too hot - a godsend in the Italian summer.

The old fishing village above it has been turned into a museum, with a cocktail bar to cool off in after a hard day's lounging.
