HAPPY 70TH EDINBURGH FESTIVAL
Edinburgh, United Kingdom
Ahhhh, Edinburgh Festival. The only place where you’re watching an opera retelling of Othello in the morning, and an eighty year old man smashing boiled eggs on his head in the afternoon. The Fringe is a rumbledethumping mix of comedy, drama, dance, singing and some Grade A weirdness. And this year is its 70th birthday.
There’s THOUSANDS of listings to choose from. The Edinburgh International Festival is where the classier stuff sits. The Free Fringe is more of a gamble - take a punt and see...
Here’s three pieces guaranteed to tickle your theatre taste buds.

Trygve vs a Baby
Until recently, mime was like yoyos, stamp collecting or Hull - lame AF.But Trygve Wakenshaw (best name ever) is one of the mime artists making being trapped in a box cool again.
His (mostly) silent comedy twists and turns through silly sketches, flipping mime on its head. This new show pitches Trygve against his newborn son to see who is funnier, a world-famous comedian or a standard baby.

Testosterone
The men’s locker room - an intimidating world of protein shakes and Lynx. But for Kit, a trans man who has never been in one before, it’s the ultimate test.Testosterone is the true story, told by Rhum and Clay, of Kit’s first time in a male changing room at the age of 33. It starts as a normal scene of four men changing, then becomes a quest for masculine identity (whatever that means) in a place where there’s nowhere to hide.
