Ibiza’s shy little sister who’s more into snorkelling than snorting, Formentera lives in the shadow of its more famous Balearic family.

And that’s a good thing, Formentera’s avoided the mega-clubs and resorts and stayed a perfect little diamond in the rough. Throw on your swimmers and say hello to Formentera.

Formentera is basically one giant beach - it’s coated from head to flipper in frosty white sands.

Platja de Ses Illetes is a strip of eye-wateringly beautiful beach poking out into the Balearic sea.

For those who like to get their nips wet (everyone, amirite?) Playa Llevant has deeper water.

Platja de Migjorn is 6km of sand, sea and chiringuitos - beach bars with snacks and dranks. Flipper & Chiller has the best terrace AND is owned by Spain’s fave porn star, the curiously named Nacho Vidal.

The sea between Formentera and Ibiza is super-crystally-clear (thanks, special seaweed!) so you can get closeup views of Nemo and friends.

Either pop on a snorkel and head out from Es Caló des Mort beach or head to Es Freus Marine Reserve for a full on scuba dive.

Juan Y Andrea restaurant is a little pricey (€50 for a main), but you’re paying to eat your seafood right on the beach. Go for the local prawns a la plancha and eat with the ocean in your eyeballs. Yummer.

As well as b-e-a-c-h, Formentera’s got live music in the square, hippy markets, flamenco lessons and open air film screenings of local fave ‘Sex and Lucia’. Put actual shoes and underwear on for the first time since you landed and get involved - follow the link for an up-to-date programme.

‘Someday we’re gonna geeeeeeet so hiiiiiiigh...’ Lighthouse crawling is a sure way to have ‘High’ in your head for the rest of your natural life. Still, these scenic beauties are worth the insanity. Head to La Mola, Es Cap de Barbaria and La Savina to keep watch for pirates.

If you don’t like beaches, sit this one out. Everyone else, Formentera is your new best friend.
