IT'S TIME FOR... MONTREAL

Montreal , Canada

The largest city in Canada's Québec province has a more ‘European’ vibe than the rest of the country.

That means retro bars, food markets and over 90 festivals a year. With all that snow, mountains and lakes it obviously NAILS winter…

On Ice

Montreal’s Bell Centre is where you’ll see Canadians doing what Canadians do best - it can only be ice hockey.

Home to the ‘Canadiens', games here always get rowdy.

Local idols skate full speed round the pitch just like Bart and Lisa.
Or head to the Ice Fishing Village with its heated cabins to try and catch your dinner.

Settle in for the evening with a game of cards and a round of hot apple toddys to go with all the Pike, Perch and Burbot you caught 🐟

On Snow

Hop on the next Limocar bus from downtown to the closest mountain to Montreal - Mt. Bromont is only half an hour to the slopes.

Known for the night skiing, this resort has 155 trails winding down seven monster hills. Canada doesn't do things by halves.

Eat

There’s one restaurant you simply cannot miss - coz it’s a 3 storey giant orange…

Gibeau Orange Julep is home to the famous drink of the same name. The bizarre building is so iconic that it once helped a pilot land a plane when the guidance system broke. They serve up hot dogs burgers and their creamy orange drink.

For something equally weird but more upmarket try Restaurant Europea, where you’ll get a meal served in a book and a candy-floss tree dessert.

Drink

If Kurt Cobain’s in heaven somewhere, it’ll look like Les Foufounes Electriques (The Electric Arse).

Mosh around to live grunge bands til you’re completely soaked in beer. Or join the bikers at the bar and nod along from a safe distance.
Too hardcore?

Le Petite Floride does a karaoke-campfire-sing along in a school bus.

So cheery. So Canadian.

Picnic tables and a skating rink surround the bus park - where locals come to drink mulled wine under the fairy lights in the winter.
Sorry Narnia, too bad Frozen - Montreal wins at winter.
