Sometimes it pays to be wary of festivals in places you've never heard of (looking at you, Fyre), but sometimes you've just gotta take a deep breath and say 'this looks like the cat’s nuts.'

Kala is a festival on the Albanian coast, where the Adriatic meets the Ionian sea. You hop on a boat to a secluded beach forest, surrounded by cliffs, caves and crystally water. Spoiler: it’s pretty peng.

As well as golden beaches and dirt-cheap alcohol, Kala’s got one of the best line-ups going. There’s Dele Sosimi Afrobeat Orchestra, Joy Orbison and Channel One Sound System.

There’s also some pretty eclectic add-on options, including trips to Drymandes beach to go diving round the wreck of first Albanian plumber´s ship (yep) or a cheeky spot of paragliding. Just don’t drink and paraglide, plz.
