Legzira Red Beach

Legzira Red Beach

Legzira , Morocco

Hear that? That’s the sound of your 6th form geography teacher beating one off.

The bright red sea arches on Legzira beach in Morocco are the stuff of geologist’s dreams.
Sitting on the Atlantic coast, salty waves have carved arches in the giant stone walls.

Wait till low tide then run through the holes shouting things about ‘erosion’ and ‘physical geography’.
Big waves and windy coastlines mean surf’s up. Get some surf lessons or try a bit of paragliding.
If it turns out you’re crap at both, there’s 8km of silky sand to crash on.
Still a typical Moroccan beach, spot donkeys on a work shift, camels lazing in the sun and fishermen dodging surfers out in the bay.
The beach is a road trip away from Essaouira. It’s far enough to keep the hordes away and the quiet coastal roads look like Insta filters.
