Can’t decide which festival to go to this summer?

Neither could these guys… So they made their own #goals.

Monticule Festival (21st - 25th June) is the brainchild of German club scenesters who wanted to merge Munich electronica with art, food and sustainability. Life complete.

Held in Domaine de Gayfié - a private house with a massive swimming pool and fairytale woodland - this teeny festival (800 people) feels like a house party turned way of life.

You’d come for the French scenery alone (historic castles, vineyards, the river Lot) but the place is set off to the soundtrack of world class music producers - hi Young Marco.

‘Avant-garde electronica’ starts poolside after a continental breakfast and ends in a sweaty abandoned barn some 23 hours later. Fjaak and Jack Pattern will keep you going.

If you can’t hack the pace for the full five days (fair) head to the woods for glowy arty installations and ambient music.

All food and drink is onsite and locally produced. They’ve even lined up a mixologist from Munich who’ll whip you up an Old Fashioned faster than you can say ‘but I just want a Red Stripe’.

Dinner is a music-stopping two hour evening banquet with a meaty BBQ or vegan feast.

Monticule is more intimate than first cousins kissing in the back of Uncle Gerald’s Volvo Estate.
