Here's what goes down at Monticule...

Monticule Festival (20th - 24th June) is the brainchild of German club maestros who wanted to merge Munich electronica with art, food and sustainability. Life complete.

Held in Domaine de Gayfié - a private house with a massive swimming pool and fairytale woodland - this teeny festival (800 people) feels like a house party turned way of life.

You’d come for the French scenery alone (historic castles, vineyards, the river Lot) but the place is set off to the soundtrack of world class music producers. This year John Talabot, Modeselektor and Gilb’R are just a handful of the juicy acts on the lineup.

‘Avant-garde electronica’ starts poolside after a continental breakfast and ends in a sweaty abandoned barn some 23 hours later.

And it's not just a 5 day murk up - they also lay on Yoga classes, Shiatsu Massage, Cave Tours, Astronomy Lessons and painting courses.

Plus donkey rides to the nearby fresh water spring for swimming 🐴

But if lying like a salamander by the giant swimming pool is more your bag then noone's judging.

All food and drink is onsite and locally produced. There's even a champagne bar looking out over the river valley.

Dinner is a music-stopping two hour evening banquet with a meaty BBQ or vegan feast.

Monticule is more intimate than first cousins kissing in the back of Uncle Gerald’s Volvo Estate.
