Night skiing, deserves a quiet night.
At Obertauern, it’s just you, the stars and the slopes as the Austrian ski resort opens up its pistes after hours. It’s a whole new way of skiing, bombing down the side of a mountain that’s smothered in darkness. The slopes themselves are lit up (thank fuck), so you can practice your best Eddie the Eagle in (relative) safety.

Obertauern has snow pretty much guaranteed, is avalanche-free (yay) and Beatles approved.
There’s a mix of slopes from 1000-2526 metres, so in the daytime the views are so sweet you can practically see god. It’s the most scenic place in Austria to practice your wedeling.

Watch out for the mad bastards swigging hot Jägertee from a hipflask - it’s a classic sports drink combining rum, brandy and wine. Weeeeell, if you can’t beat ‘em…
For apres-ski dins, follow the lights to Gasthof Flubachalm (aka ‘Flu’) to feast on their spinach and parmesan dumplings.
Obertauern is about an hour from Salzburg. Night skiing is available every Monday and Thursday from 7pm - 10pm. Tickets cost between €14-€16 and can be bought from Edelweissbahn-station. The season runs roughly from December - April.
