Top Picks Handpicked things to do, not included in the trip price…
The Galician Caribbean
Minty breezes, pine tree forests and the ‘World’s Best Beach’. The Cies Islands are a bit of alright. Jump on the next ferry to the most tropical thing outside of the Caribbean. Francis Drake and his pirates couldn’t keep away from these shores... Hike up rugged cliffs to Monte Faro lighthouse before camping out under the stars. The boat over takes 40 minutes from Vigo port.
Fresh oysters on Rua Pescaderia
“My precioooous”. The sparkling shells catch your eye and before you know it you’re knocking back Señora Lucia’s oysters like they’re Sainsbury’s 2 for 1 cava. Rua Pescaderia is packed with old dears selling today’s freshest seafood - go between 10am and 4pm for a dozen of their finest.
Paseo de los Peces
“There’s something fishy about this place.” The guy in front of you says to his gf. Good one. If his jokes don’t do it for you, the sealife sculptures down Bouxa boardwalk definitely will. Mr Krab, the octopus with an itch and friends show off above the shore. Stroll down and ask them their stories.
Live music at La Casa Arriba
“Mi amorrrr, mi tierrrrra…” Chilled G&T in hand, lounge and listen to some of Vigo’s folk, indie-rock, and alternative talent. This dingy concert house is where the local artists come to unwind. Drinking under lamplight is underrated.
