This Catalonian capital has the kinda swag other cities wish they had. The surf’s great and the skating is even better. PLUS, it’s a double scoop of city and beach.

Each neighbourhood (call them barri’s to impress the locals) has its own vibe but all are packed full of pintxos (snacks and beer).

Where will I sleep?

Barcelona's best bits are practically on your doorstep here. Wander down La Rambla, stroll to the harbour, then head back for a dip in the rooftop pool.

Breakfast's on the house, there's a gym if you're feeling productive, and you can even hire a bike to see Barcelona on two wheels.

What will I do?

First up feast your eyes on Antoni Gaudi’s house - it’s a 19th-century beaut called Casa Vicens. Next… actually feast. We like Les Filles Cafe for brunchy tapas, Bo de B for meat and cheese-stuffed bocadillos, Liadisimo for coffee, and Bonavida for cocktails and croquettes.

After you’ve eaten your way through half of Spain (respect) - get a taste of some culture. The Centre Artesa Tradicionarius does Catalan folk music and it’s a half an hour walk to La Sagrada Familia - the rainbow, reflective masterpiece of a building.
