Benijo Black Beach

Benijo Black Beach

“I like my beaches black, like my... coffee”

Long, dark and dramatic, Benijo is a brute. Rocks stick out like jagged teeth, and waves batter the volcanic cliffs.
It’s a sweaty trek down a valley to get here (so most tourists never find Benijo) but worth it when you’re sitting in the Tenerife sun (23 ℃ in May.)
There’s a couple of seafood restaurants at the top that’ll do you some fresh mussels. Stay and watch the waves crash before heading back to the town.

To get there:

Take a 50 min bus from the main station in Tenerife (Intercambiador de Santa Cruz) then it’s a hairy 10 minute walk.
