Benijo Black Beach

Benijo Black Beach

Tenerife, Spain

“I like my beaches black, like my... coffee”

Long, dark and dramatic, Benijo is a brute. Rocks stick out like jagged teeth, and waves batter the volcanic cliffs.
It’s a sweaty trek down a valley to get here (so most tourists never find Benijo) but worth it when you’re sitting smugly in that Tenerife sun.
Head to El Mirador or Restaurant La Ola at the top for fresh mussels overlooking the beach.

Stay and watch the waves crash before heading back to the town.
To get there, take a 50 min bus from the main station in Tenerife (Intercambiador de Santa Cruz) then it’s a hairy 10 minute walk.
