HOW TO DO... HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD

London, United Kingdom

Lockdown put an engorgio spell on most of us, but there’s a massive relaunch happening in the West End that’s worth rolling out of bed for…

Harry Potter and The Cursed Child is BACK 🤯

You can catch the show from Oct 14th AND it’s on sale until Oct 23rd, 2022 - a whole year away. Winner winner. To celebrate we’ve gone all Hermione Granger and put together the ultimate guide to the show 🪄 From the story and staging to where to chow down in-between parts (it's a 2-parter).

🚨 SPOILER ALERT 🚨
This guide contains a late-night bar fit for a Hogwarts Prof, how to make a Patronus charm IRL, and a huge wheel of cheese...

What's the play about?

Don’t know your Incendio from your Avada Kedavra? No woz, this show is for stans and newbs alike.

HPATCC (figure it out) picks up 19 years after the final book 📚 It still follows the stories of the OG’s - Harry, Ron, and Hermione - but now they all have children of their own who are heading off to Hogwarts.

Albus (Harry and Ginny’s son) is best mates with Scorpius (you guessed it, Draco’s son). These two get their hands on an illegal time travel device which sets alternate realities in motion...
Without camera or CGI trickery, you’d think a stage show couldn't whip up magic like the movies. Well this overachiever (most awarded new play in history) can 🏆 Clever staging transports you from Platform 9 ¾ to The Hogwarts Express, a bowler hat suspended in midair becomes the sorting hat, and an ethereal doe Patronus comes to life as a flickering white-blue flame 🦌

And don’t even get us started on The Forbidden Forest or Hogwarts Owlery - you’ll have to see those with your own peepers 👀

What will I do between part 1 & 2?

You can’t contain magic to a standard theatre show 🦉 Everybody knows this. The show is a two-parter with a 2 hour and 20 minute break in-between parts. Lucky for you The Palace Theatre is surrounded by vibey food and drink spots…

Food

Silky ribbons of fettuccine tossed in a huge wheel of cheese and floaty slices of lemon meringue pie the size of a doorstop. Now das magic. Circolo Popolare is just under a 10-minute walk and the Italian chefs defo went to Hogwarts.
Blacklock also gets our vote - this one’s just a five-minute walk away and has a ‘swiftly served’ section ⏳ Ideal. Get the pork belly bun in a crispy blanket of crackling and don’t sleep on the sides! We like the wedges of BBQ baby gem and 10 hours ash roasted sweet potato 😋 Wash it all down with Grandpa’s Tinkered Tonic.

Bun House is also great for speedy eats. This Chinatown spot is known for its Cantonese cafe staples. Think, sesame speckled veggies and pillowy buns with melting meat 🍜 We challenge you to not eat seven.

Drinks

Post-show bevs 🍻 Ideal for discussing which of you would be the best at Quidditch over a pint of Butterbeer.

Try Milroy’s of Soho for a cosy spot or Freud Bar, it’s the sort of place Professor Trelawney would drink.

Tickets & Deets

"One of the most defining pop culture events of the decade...”
