Tubbercurry
Sligo, Ireland
Carricklea is actually a made up town. Tricksy TV magic. The real-life town where filming took place is called Tubbercurry... Sounds like a drunk takeaway order, but is actually a little spot in Sligo.
This is where main characters Marianne and Connell grew up and come back to for hols and funerals. Bleak.
Head to Brennan’s on Teeling Street, it’s the pub where the New Year’s eve scene is filmed. And those moody shots on the beach? Filmed at Streedagh Point.
The cast stayed at Sligo Park Hotel. A 4-star joint with a swanky bar and pool… Probs still not as nice as Marianne’s castle/house.

We’re living vicariously through Marianne and Connell’s uni days at Trinity College in Dublin. There are all kinds of beaut shots of Harry Potter-style libraries and posh cricket pitches.
The pool game in the pub was filmed at Blackbird on Rathmines Road Lower. And Marianne’s flat is on Wellington Road in the leafy Ballsbridge neighbourhood.
Mariane’s digs are unreal, shame her brother is an actual psychopath and her mum feels nothing. Those dinner party scenes make your fam looks like The Brady Bunch.
The actual house is in the chocolate box village of Enniskerry in Wicklow, half an hour outside of Dublin.

They eat gelato in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele in front of the Santi Cosma e Damiano church… shame current bf Jamie mixed his short-man syndrome with vino. Lethal combo.
