Places with Pools: Malta & the Balearics

PLACES WITH POOLS: MALTA & THE BALEARICS

Malta and the Balearic Islands are hotter than Bennifer 2.0.

28° hotter, to be precise.

If you’re visiting these spicy destinations you’re going to want a pool to cool off in. We’ve found the swankiest pads with availability for summer AND pools fit for J.Lo … or just Susan from Hull.

Easy Come, Easy Gozo

Whoever wrote this name is WASTED in their current job. WASTED. Once you’ve gotten over the lyrical mastery of your host, appreciate their amazing gaff too.

This place sleeps six and is done in a traditional farmhouse style - which fits it’s setting in Gharb - but there have been some luxe upgrades. Hello, built-in barbecue, sexy pergola and rockstar pool.

Rhythm of The Grotto

And that rhythm is smooth, slow soul.

This sun-bleached villa has been plonked in a leafy spot with ruggedy cliffs and sparkly sea all around. It sleeps 6 and has a poolside sauna AND it’s a short stroll to Malta’s Blue Grotto.

The Stone Sanctuary

The Stone Sanctuary is enough to make you a believer. If you like your pools to be natural and curvy, your beams to be timber, and your brickwork exposed - you’ll cream your pants for this.

Inside it’s all stylish rattan furniture and farmhouse chic finishes. Outside there’s shady reading spots, poolside deckchairs, and a dining area covered in Bougainvillea. Dreamy.

Against the Shoal

Pollença is a charming medieval town where pottery shops and seafood restaurants snuggle up together. You’re staying in an equally charming house with a marble pool and slick apartment vibes inside.

It sleeps five.

Above the Turquoise Sea

They weren’t joking. This place is perched on the cliff, climbing two storeys above the sea. It’s basically Aphrodite and Poseidon's love child. Get into it.

Private steps take you down to a sandy supermodel bay that you can spy from your terracotta terrace. No, there is no pool. But we stretched the rules because… SEA.

Close to Me

Infinity pool. Sea views. Minimalist interiors.

This is how the other half lives. Close to Me is a splurge but it does sleep 6 so… yeah, you’ll still have to sell all your clothes on Depop. Worth it to be in this villa on the fringes of laidback Cala Tarida.

Sanctuary

Maybe you have lots of money saved from all the holidays you didn’t get to take? Maybe you got a promotion? Maybe you sold a kidney?

WHO KNOWS.

But if you’ve got the cash (lots of it) Sanctuary has got the R&R vibes. This ancient building is straight out of Architectural Digest with a tiered, meandering garden and spenny-looking rooms.
