The Z Hotel Holborn
London, United Kingdom
If you thought that £50 in Covent Garden would get you a pastry and a coffee and maybe (maybe) have change to tip a busker you’d be SO. FREAKIN. WRONG.
People are still sleeping on the Z Hotel, and with rooms starting at £50 a night, it might be London’s best-kept secret. We know what you’re thinking… the rooms must be shit. Wrong again. Yes, they’re super dinky and the frosted glass shower is pushed up against the bed BUT they have modern pegboard clothes storage, flat-screen TVs, and the sort of minimalist design that’d make Marie Kondo proud.
The location is another plus point - you’re 10 minutes from Covent Garden and a short stroll from the Royal Opera House.

Mercure Bristol Grand Hotel
Bristol, United Kingdom
The Grand Hotel draws inspo from the city’s art scene, with over 500 pieces from local artists brightening up the walls. The best bit of this hotel is its central location and welcoming communal spaces. Expect cheery lounges with leather armchairs, vintage rugs, and wooden panelling.
The bar and kitchen - Keepers - is a safe pair of hands serving up British eats. It’s also a pretty good spot to get some work done.

The Midland
Manchester, United Kingdom
No one said budget couldn’t be boujee...
The Midland Hotel has huge airy communal spaces with polished columns and a spenny-looking monochrome and marble colour scheme. The best spot is the gold-edged Art Deco bar nestled between manicured trees.
You’re just a 10-minute walk to Manchester’s vibey bar scene, but it’ll be tough to leave the Alder-Wood sauna and Arctic rain shower. For evening eats keep it close to home at the hotel's 4 AA Rosette-winning restaurant - The French.

Jury's Inn
Liverpool, United Kingdom
For 69 squids you can’t go wrong…
This guy is sitting pretty right on Liverpool’s Albert Dock, just a stone throw from museums and galleries. Rooms are simple and functional, some have River Mersey views too.
The best bit? You get brekkie and a bottle of prosecco included in your stay. Fill yer boots.

Hatton Court Hotel is the kind of creeping ivy country house a kindly granny would live in. There are traditional bedrooms decked out with four-poster beds, sweeping Severn Valley views, and spa-style bathrooms. Head downstairs to the lounge for seasonal eats by the fireplace underneath chunky wooden beams. Nice.
